MW4 Closed Beta Pre-Load Starts Thursday at 12pm ET — Maps Locked In

Pre-load for the Modern Warfare 4 Closed Beta begins Thursday at 12pm ET for pre-orders and code holders. Early Access maps are locked: Kill Block, Silkworm, Rooftops, Cachette, Transit 213, Lotus, plus Campaign mission Entrenched. A retail display also shows the Monster Energy Operator and a new Decal cosmetic.

Pre-load for the Modern Warfare 4 Closed Beta (Early Access) begins Thursday, August 20 at 12:00 PM ET for players who have pre-ordered or already have a beta code.

That is the day before Weekend One. Get the client downloading now so you are not waiting on a patch queue when Early Access starts August 21 after Call of Duty: NEXT.

Who can pre-load:

  • Digital pre-orders on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Battle.net, Steam, Xbox on PC)
  • Players who redeemed a 13-character Early Access code at callofduty.com/betaredeem

No pre-order and no code? Skip Thursday — the public Open Beta on August 28 does not require one. Checklist: How to get Early Access Beta. Living schedule: MW4 Beta hub.

Early Access Beta content is locked in

The MW4 Early Access Beta map pool is officially locked. Six multiplayer maps are confirmed for Weekend One, plus Entrenched — the first Campaign mission playable in a Call of Duty beta.

Official Modern Warfare 4 Early Access Beta multiplayer maps: Kill Block, Silkworm, Rooftops, Cachette, Transit 213, and Lotus

Six MP maps

Official thumbnails for those maps are now on the MW4 maps database. Kill Block remains the adaptive live-fire / Gunfight map at the West Bridge Advanced Military Training Facility — treat it as its own playlist, not a sixth 6v6 reskin. Play-order notes: what to play first.

Entrenched

Entrenched is the exclusive Campaign mission in the beta — the first time a Call of Duty beta has included a playable story mission. It is in Early Access and returns for Open Beta, so you are not locked out if you skip Weekend One.

Monster Energy Operator and a new cosmetic: Decals

A grocery / convenience-store display for the Monster Energy × Modern Warfare 4 promotion is the first clear look at two cosmetics sitting alongside the already-confirmed 2XP codes: a Monster Energy Operator skin and a new cosmetic type called a Decal.

Retail display for the Monster Energy Modern Warfare 4 promotion showing an Operator skin and a Large Decal, with 2XP and bonus in-game rewards

The display advertises 2XP and bonus in-game rewards, points players to callofduty.monsterenergy.com, and notes that Modern Warfare 4 is required (sold separately) and that the offer is 18+.

We first confirmed the 2XP partnership from can photos and Call of Duty Community Management. This display is the first image of the Operator and the Decal. Full 2XP terms and can fine print: Monster Energy MW4 2XP.
