MW4 Beta: What to Play First — Weekend One vs Weekend Two

A player-facing split of the official MW4 beta lineup: which 6v6 maps are in Early Access, why Lotus leaves for Lithium, when Zodiac and Combat Outpost unlock, and what Kill Block actually is.

The official Modern Warfare 4 Next + Beta graphic is a content dump. This page is the play-order version: what you can queue on August 21–25, what waits until August 28–September 1, and which MW4.GG pages to open beside the game.

The underlying facts match our lineup report and the Beta hub. Nothing here is a guessed TTK or a fake callout — those land after we play.

If you only have Early Access (Aug 21–25)

Weekend One is Multiplayer plus one Campaign mission. Warzone Resurgence and Ground War are not on this weekend's list.

Play Entrenched once

Entrenched is the exclusive Campaign mission in the beta. It is the one story beat you cannot recreate in a 6v6 playlist. If your time is short, run it before you sink the whole weekend into TDM.

Then the 6v6 pool

Confirmed Weekend One maps:

  • Rooftops
  • Silkworm
  • Transit 213
  • Cachette
  • Lotus — Early Access only in the current 6v6 list
  • Kill Block

Lotus is the map that does not carry into the Open Beta 6v6 list. If you care about learning it, Weekend One is the window Activision has published.

Queue Kill Block on purpose

Kill Block is not just another 6v6 name. Activision describes it as an adaptive live-fire map at the West Bridge Advanced Military Training Facility, playable as 10v10 Gunfight and 3v3 Gunfight, with a public showing at Fanatics Fest NYC. Treat it as its own playlist, not a reskin of Cachette. Full write-up: Kill Block.

Modes on Weekend One

Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Inflation, Search & Destroy, Kill Block Gunfight, and the Mobility Course. Hijack and Combat Outpost are Open Beta additions — do not wait for them on August 21.

If you are waiting for Open Beta (Aug 28–Sep 1)

This is the larger test, and the one Switch 2 players can join without a pre-order.

  • 6v6: Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette, Lithium (new), Kill Block. Lotus is not on this list.
  • Ground War: Combat Outpost — Imjin Farmland and Wolves Stadium.
  • Warzone: Resurgence Zodiac — the headline Weekend Two map.
  • New mode: Hijack, plus Combat Outpost alongside the returning 6v6 modes.
  • Campaign: Entrenched returns, so you still get the mission if you skipped Early Access.

If you can only play one Open Beta evening, the unique content is Zodiac, Combat Outpost, Lithium, and Hijack — not a second pass of Transit 213 unless you are taking notes for us.

Vault Edition players

Signature weapons are usable in the Multiplayer beta if you pre-ordered Vault Edition. That is the set we will measure first after August 21: Kastov 762, ISO Nightshade, Rezi 12, Oris 8.6, Combat Knife, plus the default M4 everyone else will search. Roster names live on the weapons hub; numbers wait until they exist in-game.

How MW4.GG will use your weekends

During Early Access we will replace pre-beta map and gun stubs with callouts and loadouts from play, starting with the Weekend One pool and those signature guns. Open Beta is when Lithium, Combat Outpost, and Zodiac get the same treatment. The schedule page stays /beta/.
